Demolition and Changeover

The primary element of plant modernization involves the removal of equipment, secondary support steel and building structures. There are various levels of demolition Western Industrial Contractors utilizes on these Plant Modernization Projects to achieve stringent safety standards and accommodate the objectives of our customer.

  • Demolition involves the cutting and removal of equipment where the objective is to remove and dispose.  Traditionally, as defined by Western Industrial Contractors’ work experience, demolition does not involve destroying by use of explosives or a wrecking ball.  This is the most common assumption associated with the word “demolition.” Ultimately, it’s about precision, it isn’t feasible to shutdown a live-active facility during the modernization process.  When you can dissect and remove equipment without collateral damage, it allows a facility to maintain it’s day-to-day operations.  Most importantly, above all else, a higher level of safety is achieved.

  • Surgical Demolition involves the careful disassembly of equipment to be salvaged for reinstallation at a later date.
  • Clean Demolition occurs after either demolition or surgical demolition and involves painting, floor refinishing and restoring lighting, fire alarm and sprinkler lines.

Western Industrial Contractors’ demolition projects with the United States Postal Service (USPS) have always taken place in live-active facilities. We allow our customers to proceed in processing, mail offering minimal interference which is our ultimate goal, customer satisfaction.
